Our StoryLocated 40 minutes northeast of Seattle, Snohomish Community Church (SCC) is a daughter church of Alderwood Community Church of Lynnwood, Washington. Tim Walton, a long time Associate Pastor at Alderwood Community Church, led a four-couple church planting team. Others from the Alderwood Church and from the Snohomish and Lake Stevens areas joined the team, and our first public service was held at Centennial Middle School on February 7, 1993. In September of 1993, SCC incorporated independently from Alderwood.
Centennial Middle School served as the church's home for the next seven years with Tim as Senior Pastor and Gordon Everett as Senior Associate Pastor. While attendance continued to grow, the church purchased 11.5 acres of land in 1995. Under the guidance of our Building Committee and with the supervisory assistance of Craftsman for Christ International, our people volunteered and built the 20,000 square foot multipurpose facility that is now "home" for SCC. The first service in the new building on Dubuque Road was celebrated on Easter, 2000.
In the years following, portable classrooms and office structures were added to accommodate growth. Currently the church is at the architectural planning stage of a second permanent structure for more children, youth and adult space.
Today there are six full time pastoral staff at SCC along with various part-time ministry and support staff. Sunday morning attendance (children through adults) averages over 700 over two worship service times.
Since the beginning, SCC has provided ministry programs for children, youth, adults and families, beyond our worship services. With God's guidance, SCC strives to live out its purpose of existing to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who team up to reach others with the gospel.
